1858 (March 8) James Crombie, Galt Millwrights, Founders, Blacksmiths cameo label advertising (on back) of orange envelope mailed from Galt, U.C. prepaid to Havana, Cuba, showing manuscript rates "2/9stg", "3/5cy" and "charge Box 72". Galt double arc dispatch datestamp, same-day Hamilton transit on back, clear London MR 23 59 PAID split ring transit on front and partially clear Habana 27 AB 58 arrival backstamp. Carried by Cunard through Boston to London and by Royal Mail packet toCuba, via St. Thomas; handstamp "2" (reales) for Cuban due marking. Despite small faults, an"extraordinary via-England route" cover as mentioned in Arfken, Leggett, Firby, Steinhart authoritative book "Canada's Pence Era", reported to be the only cover mailed to Cuba during the 1851-1859 Pence era; destined for a serious collection.
